Federated Farmers is helping on a project to help record the history and impact of woolsheds and the contribution of farm workers on New Zealand culture and communities.
Woolsheds are a familiar sight on the New Zealand landscape, but due to recent changes in sheep farming and land use, early woolsheds and their histories are being lost.
Feds is helping raise $32,000, through a PledgeMe campaign, to fund photographer Jane Ussher as she takes photographs of woolsheds for leading academic Dr. Annette O’Sullivan’s large-format book on the theme. The Massey University design academic is compiling a list of woolsheds to photograph for the book.
Please reach out to people you know who might be interested in donating or who have a historic woolshed for a possible photo. To donate, just search ‘Woolshed’ on PledgeMe.
There is also an opportunity to have your name in the book as a sponsor, but space is limited. The sooner you donate, the better chance of getting your name in as a sponsor.
