Federated Farmers strategic partner FMG is fielding plenty of inquiries from rural families about Cyclone Gabrielle. This is their advice.

• Staying safe should be your number one priority
• Contact us as quickly as you can to get your claim started
• If your claim is urgent, or you need immediate assistance, call us on 0800 366 466
• If your claim is not urgent, consider logging it via FMG Connect, or at www.fmg.co.nz
• Given the size of this Cyclone, FMG will be prioritising the needs of our most vulnerable clients first
• We ask for your patience. Getting to these clients and others who need an assessor will take time, given the high number of claims we’re preparing for, and the many challenges with access.
• Please take a safety-first approach when surveying damage around your property
• If water has entered your property, do not turn on your electricity unless it’s been inspected by an electrician.
• Do not drive vehicles that have suffered water damage.
• Dispose of fully flooded property, especially carpets. Please take photos first
• You can carry out essential repairs, such as making your home weather tight. Please take photos beforehand
• Please contact us before carrying out non-urgent repairs
• Keep receipts of any essential repairs you have done for you. This too will help with your claim.
