Bad news… Feds and small water suppliers have been ignored in the submission process, while my community spent time together this week at the community hall which will be affected they are unwittingly captured by the Water Services Bill.
The Bill is unworkable at the small-scale. Regardless of the effectiveness of ‘acceptable solutions’ for small suppliers, which are not yet defined, the Bill will require registration of water supplies with Taumata Arowai, the preparation of drinking water safety plans, and consumer complaints processes to be in place. Avoidance of these requirements would only be possible if the Chief Executive of Taumata Arowai were to grant an exemption. It will capture anyone who supplies water to more than one dwelling (e.g., a neighbour(s) in addition to irrigation, stock and shed water.”
